2. Archives Unbound (Gale)

Archives Unbound presents topically-focused digital collections of historical documents that support the research and study needs of scholars, researchers, and students at the college and university level. A multi-disciplinary resource, collections cover a broad range of topics from the Middle Ages forward-from Witchcraft to World War II to twentieth-century political history. Particular strengths include U.S. foreign policy; U.S. civil rights; global affairs and colonial studies; and modern history. Collections are chosen based on requests from scholars, archivists, and students. The Archives Unbound program consists of more than 290,000 documents totaling 12 million pages.

 

3. BoB National (Box of Broadcasts)

BoB (Box of Broadcasts) National is an innovative shared online off-air TV and radio recording service for UK higher and further education institutions. Individual users are allowed to request 5 new recordings per day. Please contact library-eresources@glasgow.ac.uk if a larger number of recording requests per day is required. The programmes you record can only be used and accessed within the UK.

The database is the largest and continuously updated Chinese journal database in the world, focuses on academy, technology, policy guidance, popular science and education journals and covers science, engineering technology, agriculture, philosophy, medicine, humanities and social sciences, etc. It has collected 10,090 China academic journals, and the full-text paper amount has reached to 53,789,978. The University of Glasgow has access to Series G - Politics/ Military Affairs/ Law (1994-2015).

 

5. Chronicling America

Chronicling America is a searchable full-text collection of pages from more than 400 digitized newspapers from 23 states. Coverage ranges from 1860 to 1922 but varies for each newspaper. The database also includes a separately searchable newspaper directory which provides information about American newspapers published from 1690 to the present.

Described by the New Yorker as "the newspaper that rules Britain", the Daily Mail has been at the heart of British journalism since 1896, regularly changing the course of government policy and setting the national debate. Its website is among the most visited news sites in the world. The Daily Mail Historical Archive includes more than one hundred years of this major UK national newspaper, viewable in full digital facsimile form, with copious advertisements, news stories, and images that capture twentieth-century culture and society.

 

8. Economist Historical Archive (1843-2015)
